Sales Executive

Job Description


The Sales executive is responsible for prospecting, qualifying and generating new sales leads. Once generated, they will be involved in the entire sales cycle. As the ‘owner’ of the sale they will receive commission on the sale. SchoolBase is a complex product and they will need input from appropriate pre-sales consultants and significant training- both will be provided. This individual will be a highly motivated self-starter able to identify and develop new business prospects from multiple sources including inbound marketing leads, prospect lists, discovery and individual research.  A dynamic personality with a drive to reach decision makers is essential!

Reports To: Managing Director
The Sales Executive is expected to:

  • Develop new business via telephone, email and social media to introduce Furlong’s products and identify appropriate key decision makers within our target market.
  • Follow up on leads and conduct research to identify potential prospects.
  • Conduct a needs analysis and determine prospects pain points to determine how Furlong’s solution will meet those needs.
  • Identify key buying influencers within these prospects to determine budget and timeline.
  • Build and cultivate prospect relationships by initiating communications and conducting follow-up communications in order to move opportunities through the sales funnel.
  • Work with the Sales and Marketing team to develop and grow the sales pipeline to consistently meet company revenue goals.
  • Manage data for new and prospective clients in CRM, ensuring all communications are logged, information is accurate and documents are attached.
  • Prepare and analyse sales pipeline reports and dashboards.  Attend pre-sales demonstrations, relevant exhibitions and conferences as required

Experience and knowledge

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Communications or related field would be advantageous.
  • Experience in the Education industry preferred
  • 1-3 years’ telemarketing and/or inside sales experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet and/or exceed determined sales and activity quotas.
  • A proven track record of strong client relationships.
  • Excellent client service skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Technical Experience

  • Proficient in MS Office products (Excel, Word, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint)
  • Experience with CRM, online software

Support Team Consultant

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Support Team for a graduate trained, customer oriented individual who has a passion for providing straightforward, understandable solutions that enable and enrich the experience of our users and make a difference to their daily lives.


Furlong Solutions provide school management software to schools in the Independent and Maintained sector covering both School Management Information Systems and Financial Management. The support process is a fundamental element in ensuring an optimum customer experience when conducting a wide range of school business activity from admissions, attendance and parental contacts to timetabling, assessment and tracking. Support requests from schools range from simple usage to managing complex school processes through the use of the MIS.

Position Description

Furlong’s support team is not just a software “help desk”. Our Support Specialists engage in deep problem solving not necessarily related to our products themselves. While some cases simply involve providing instruction or directing the user to documentation, the majority of cases involve critical thinking and problem solving skills. Our mission statement is “Our Product is software, our Passion is support”. Support is provided by telephone and makes use of a range of IT support tools such as remote connection and video communications. An audit record of all communication and support provided is maintained to ensure the quality of delivery.

This post will appeal to an enthusiastic problem solver with an analytical mind and attention to detail who is able to communicate effectively with clients and provide clear and concise information with a calming demeanour. Appropriate training in all the software systems will be provided.

  • Ability to interact effectively with both non-technical users and highly technical users.
  • Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks.
  • Willingness to research and figure out complex software and IT systems.
  • A desire to make things more efficient - we are looking for someone who enjoys initiating change.
  • Excellent task completion with minimal management.
  • A background of working with Microsoft Windows based PCs and Office Software (certifications are not required – we will be much more interested in your ability to figure things out as you go).

Furlong will provide training in the specific nature of our product.
