Background
Wellington College is one of Britain’s great national boarding schools and academically among the top ten co-educational schools in the country. Opened by Queen Victoria in 1859, among its eminent and famous alumni are George Orwell, Peter Snow, Sir Nicholas Grimshaw, Rory Bremner, Will Young, Sebastian Faulks and James Hunt. Originally for boys, the College became a co-educational in 2006 and today has around 1000 pupils between 13 and 18 years old, of which 800 are boarders.
